Max Bower

Max has enjoyed a long and varied career in the health and fitness industry, having been involved in training groups and individuals since the late 1990’s.

Over that time, he has worked with a wide and diverse range of people, from triathletes to cardiac rehabilitation patients, so understands well that the most successful training programmes are those with the participants’ individual needs at the centre.

A keen cyclist and runner, he has been taking part in cycle sportives and triathlons for many years. He worked as a consultant to Triathlon England on their GO TRI project after the 2012 Olympics, developing and delivering a training programme aimed at broadening participation in the sport.

STOTT Pilates trained, Max enjoys both teaching and participating in the form, and regards the practice of Pilates as a fundamental foundation of fitness for anyone, whether training for a sport, or simply for a healthy body fit for day-to-day life.

Mary Boyarski

Mary’s life can be charted through different phases of physical activity: after she retired from dance to have children, she took up running and started teaching fitness classes long before Fitness became the industry it is today. In 1994 she moved to London from the US to train to be an Alexander Technique teacher. Her subsequent search for a disciplined but less pugilistic approach to fitness led her to Pilates, which beautifully combines the precision and elegance of dance with the athleticism of fitness training. Her teaching is informed by her experience as a dancer as well as the lengthening and widening principles of the Alexander Technique. Her goals as a teacher are to get students stronger and more flexible, to increase their awareness of good alignment, to improve their coordination and control, and to help them learn how to move well without excess tension.

Mary’s childhood in the Philippines and longing to be near the sea drew her to St. Leonards in 2023. She can be seen either walking along the seafront with a big smile on her face, or sitting (lurking) in the back row at various films and events at Kino.

Rachel’s STOTT PILATES training has helped her to overcome injuries and strengthen the body to prepare for performance and long hours of training. Rachel is fascinated with small details and overcoming restrictions both in the body and mind. And has much experience in helping people to achieve their goals.

Emily Bridger at Sea Breeze Pilates

Emily Bridger

Emily’s reformer pilates journey began at Sea Breeze Pilates, when the studio opened in September 2022.

From her first class, she was fully invested into everything Reformer Pilates has to offer, not just physically, but mentally too. Having gone from a not so sporty child, to managing chronic fatigue syndrome as a teen, she has learnt with time how important moving the body is, and how much it can improve every aspect of life.

Encouraged by the studio owners, she decided to take her teacher training in summer 2023, taught by expert trainers, Brigitte Wrenn and Charlotte Albion.

Having recent memory of being a beginner, Emily can relate to feeling nervous to start, but she’s here to welcome and cheer you on as you take your first step!

As a Hastings native, she’s thrilled that reformer pilates has now come to our town, and she’s dedicated to becoming the very best teacher she can be. In her free time, you’ll find Emily with her nose in a book, spending time by the sea, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

Enthusiastic, encouraging, and sometimes funny, she can’t wait to welcome you to class.
