Intensive Reformer (IR)
The STOTT PILATES education method is unparalleled in the industry for its thoroughness and quality. At Sea Breeze PILATES you will be taught by experienced Instructor Trainers who can mentor you on your education path.
We welcome all Pilates and fitness instructors and enthusiasts to learn and benefit from the STOTT PILATES teacher certification programmes. We will be offering courses in Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Chairs & Barrels as well as Injuries and Special Populations, Total Barre and an extensive range of workshops to supplement your current training and programming.
The (IR) course presents how to teach the Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Reformer repertoire safely and effectively to a range of clients in both private and group settings. It will introduce the STOTT PILATES Movement System™, which provides a framework to creating intelligent and mindful exercise and serves as the foundation for tailored exercise programming.
This course will cover
- The What, How and Why of the STOTT PILATES Principles and how to apply them to all exercises.
- Anatomy, safety & care of the Reformer.
- How to safely set up the Reformer for each exercise.
- How to adjust resistance effectively in a variety of exercises.
- STOTT PILATES Warm Up on the Reformer.
- A complete breakdown, including goals, muscular emphasis and movement sequencing of 139 Essential and Intermediate Reformer exercises.
- Modifications to address specific alignment issues and individual needs.
- Power workout.
- Static Postural Analysis and assessment to aid in programme creation.
- Exercise layering related to effective programme design.
- Workout composition for personal and group training.
- Effective communication, observational skills, verbal cues and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.
Requirements of certification
- 50 hours of instruction and supervised teaching (face to face Course)
- Minimum of 10 hours of observation
- Minimum of 40 hours of physical review
- Minimum of 25 hours of practice teaching
- Total: 125 hours
Course requirements
- A basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology for example gym or studio instructor, Yoga teacher, sports therapist, physiotherapist or a dancer.
- If you do not have anatomy & physiology training you can take an online course prior to your STOTT PILATES course. Email for more details.
- A minimum of 30 hours Reformer classes or private sessions.
- Teaching experience is recommended but not essential.
Exam
- Practical examination – the Reformer exam takes the form of a one hour practical assessment.
- Theory paper – (majority multiple choice).
- Portfolio of evidence.
- 25 hours practice teaching. Practice Teaching hours can be fulfilled by teaching STOTT PILATES course repertoire to family, fellow students, friends.
- 40 hours physical review (attending STOTT PILATES classes or private sessions).
- 10 hours observation – Observing a STOTT PILATES instructor teaching a session and also watching the online learning resources. (Observing classes can be taken at Sea Breeze Pilates, St Leonard-on-Sea or Bamboo Fitness, London with prior arrangement).
