With over 150 workshops to choose from, STOTT PILATES introductory and continuing education workshops can supplement your current instructor training and programming. Pilates workshops are continually updated and cover everything from new ideas for your Mat and reformer sessions, pre and post natal, sport and athletic conditioning to rehabilitation and special populations.

STOTT PILATES® Prenatal Pilates on the Reformer

Learn the benefits of taking moms-to-be from traditional Matwork variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer in this workshop, developed by the Merrithew® team. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations are explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors, pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals are to be taken in to account when creating new and ongoing programs.

 

Learning objectives

  1. Apply the STOTT PILATES Principles to specific exercises on the Reformer
  2. Understand movement essence and exercise goals for the prenatal client
  3. Explore how exercise choices are made for the prenatal client and what modifications may need to be incorporated
  4. Hear cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness

STOTT PILATES® Lumbo-Pelvic Region: Equipment Programming for Stability & Function

Injuries to the lower back are a concern for a large number of adults and a challenge for exercise professionals. In this lecture/demo-style workshop, developed by the programming team at Merrithew®, learn how specially-designed Pilates equipment can be ideal for working with clients in a post-rehabilitative environment. First, review the normal functioning of the lumbo-pelvic region relating to the lumbar spine, pelvis and hip, and discuss common issues that are encountered as fitness professionals, for example, disc herniations, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Then observe how the Reformer, Stability Chair and Cadillac can be used to strengthen involved musculature from the deepest layers to the more superficial muscles. Learn specific exercises to create strength and stability that will allow daily functionality and improved performance overall.

  1. Understand optimal function and movement patterns of lumbo-pelvic region
  2. Review anatomy, ideal movements and associated muscular involvement
  3. Understand common dysfunctions and how they affect daily performance
  4. Learn exercises on a variety of large and small equipment to optimize lumbo-pelvic function
