The STOTTĀ PILATES education method is unparalleled in the industry for its thoroughness and quality.Ā At Sea Breeze PILATES you will be taught byĀ experienced Instructor TrainersĀ who can mentor you on your education path.Ā 

We welcome all Pilates and fitness instructors and enthusiasts to learn and benefit from the STOTTĀ PILATES teacher certification programmes. We will be offering courses in Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Chairs & Barrels as well as Injuries and Special Populations, Total Barre and an extensive range of workshops to supplement your current training and programming.Ā 

The course presents how to teach the Essential and Intermediate STOTTĀ PILATES Matwork repertoire safely and effectively to a range of clients in both private and group settings. It will introduce the STOTTĀ PILATES Movement Systemā„¢, which provides a framework to creating intelligent and mindful exercise and serves as the foundation for tailored exercise programming.Ā 

This course will cover

  • The What, How and Why of the STOTTĀ PILATES Principles and how to apply them to all exercises.
  • STOTTĀ PILATES Supine & Standing Warm Ups.
  • A complete breakdown, including goals, muscular emphasis, movement sequencing – of 63 Essential and Intermediate Matwork exercises.
  • Modifications to address specific alignment issues and individual needs.
  • Power workout.
  • Static Postural Analysis and assessment to aid in program creation.
  • Incorporating light equipment including as Flex-BandĀ®, Fitness Circle® resistance ring and Arc Barrel/Stability Barrel™ to support and intensify exercises.
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design.
  • Workout composition for personal and group training.
  • Effective communication, observational skills, verbal cues and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.

Requirements of certification

  • 40 hours of instruction and supervised teaching (face to face course).
  • Minimum of 10 hours of observation.
  • Minimum of 30 hours of physical review.
  • Minimum of 15 hours of practice teaching.
  • Total: 95 hours.

Course requirements

  • A basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology for example gym or studio instructor, Yoga teacher, sports therapist, physiotherapist or a dancer.
  • If you do not have anatomy & physiology training you can take an online course prior to your STOTT PILATES course. Email for more details.
  • A minimum of 30 hours Matwork classes or private sessions.
  • Teaching experience is recommended but not essential.

Exam

  • Practical examination – the Mat-Plus exam takes the form of a one hour practical assessment.
  • Theory paper – (majority multiple choice).
  • Portfolio of evidence.Ā 
  • 15 hours practice teaching. Practice Teaching hours can be fulfilled by teaching STOTT PILATES course repertoire to family, fellow students, friends.
  • 30 hours physical review (attending STOTT PILATES classes or private sessions).
  • 10 hours observation – Observing a STOTT PILATES instructor teaching a session and also watching the online learning resources.(Observing classes can be taken at Sea Breeze Pilates, St Leonard-on-Sea or Bamboo Fitness, London with prior arrangement).
  • Please note: exam can be combined with STOTT PILATESĀ Intensive Reformer.
  • The examination must be taken within 6 months of completion of your last STOTT PILATES course.
